What Is It?

The Vanilla Absolute Essential Oil Blend supplied by Shay & Company is not a single pure vanilla essential oil. According to the supplier, it combines Myroxylon Pereirae (Peru Balsam) Resin Oil, Styrax benzoin (Benzoin) Resin Extract, and Vanilla Planifolia (Vanilla) Fruit Extract.

Why We Chose It

It contributes a warm, sweet and resinous vanilla impression that can soften woody, floral and spicy aromatic blends.

Good to Know

This vanilla blend contains benzoin and Peru balsam ingredients, which may bother people sensitive to fragrance or botanical resins. Patch test a new product on a small area and discontinue use if irritation occurs.

Fun Fact

In 1841, twelve-year-old Edmond Albius, then enslaved on Réunion, developed a practical hand-pollination method for vanilla orchids. His technique transformed vanilla growing worldwide, but he was never fairly compensated.
