KAOLIN CLAY

KAOLIN CLAY

A Little Geology in the Jar

Kaolin is a naturally occurring clay mineral, typically light in color and finely powdered. It's used in ceramics as well as personal care.

Why We Chose It

We choose it for its soft texture, absorbent character and the subtle body it brings to suitable cosmetic products. Not every useful ingredient has to come from a flower.

Good to Know

Natural clays can differ in color and composition, so even two pale-looking clays are not necessarily identical.

Fun Fact

Kaolin was named for China's Gaoling area and helped make the fine porcelain Europe spent centuries trying to reproduce. Soap's humble white clay has a rather fancy dinnerware history.
