CASTOR OIL

CASTOR OIL

A soapmaking oil named after a beaver. Seriously.

Every ingredient has a story—and a practical reason to be here.

What Is It?

Castor oil is pressed from the seeds of the castor plant (Ricinus communis); cosmetic-grade castor oil is a processed raw material, not the toxic seed itself.

Why We Chose It

Even in small amounts, it can help support lather in traditional soap.

Fun Fact

Castor oil's name has an unexpected beaver connection: 'castor' is Latin for beaver, and the name was historically linked to castoreum. No beavers are involved in this plant oil!
